Appropriately enough, we have named this tea-only, unsweetened brew after the most important, first, “Original” Guaraní God. Tupã is the Guaraní god of Creation – born of the sun and after descending to earth he stood on a Paraguayan mountain and created the whole world – the Oceans, the Forests, the Rivers, the Animals and of course the Mate.
